The word “Quill” has two basic meanings when translated into Spanish.

1. Quill – Pluma (a pen made of bird feathers, which used ink to write). Although the word quill, in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America, is still used for pens today.
2. Quill – Púa (large, straight spine of a plant or animal, such as those of the maguey, hedgehog or porcupine)
